ASRT as the lead in the consortium with the Health Information Systems Programme (HISP), was commissioned by the UNDP to undertake the work to implement the rolling out of the end-to-end tracking of health commodities using the electronic health intelligent network (e-HIN) in three districts in Malawi. Blantyre, Ntchisi and Rumphi. The objective of the e-HIN was to i) Capture the information that is required to allow MoH/UNDP to know what equipment is needed at each facility visited, to allow for a successful implementation of the e-HIN system that the MoH was rolling out to facilities.

ii) Simultaneously, to capture information about the people at the facility that was to allow for the training, as part of the roll-out, to be targeted at the correct level for the staff at that facility.

Led by the MoH and supported by a delegation from Logitismo and UNDP India. ASRT conducted a pilot for the roll-out of the e-HIN infrastructure and systems in these districts

ASRT engaged a team of 15 enumerators and 2 supervisors to work with the national and district health officials to collect data of the specific supply chain arrangements in each of the three districts. This data will inform the review of commodities for disease programs in the country; HIV, TB, Malaria, Nutrition and EPI, mapping all supply chain points, point of storage and/ or dispensing of these commodities

The total number of supply chain points, including storage and distribution points and cold chain in the three districts were 355 distributed as follows: 132 in BT, 126 in Ntchisi and 97 in Rumphi.
