As part of the Akazi 2 Project, the Agency for Scientific Research (ASRT) in collaboration with RCSI and the MoH, conducted a breast cancer awareness training for local leaders and religious clergies from communities surrounding five health centres in Blantyre. The training aimed to promote breast cancer awareness and early detection in communities and equip community leaders with accurate information on breast cancer screening, early detection, and the importance of community engagement in health promotion activities.
The training which held from October 6-9, 2025, reached 180 HSAs and covered topics such as breast cancer self-examination, signs and symptoms, and steps to take when unusual changes are noticed. The event created a platform for open discussions, empowering both women and men with knowledge to support early diagnosis and reduce stigma surrounding breast cancer.
